WhatsApp now has AI built in. How to find it, how to ask in Hindi, Gujarati or English, and what it is genuinely useful for day to day.

Say you want today's gold price. Or the latest share market news. Or an answer to something you half-remember reading about AI. Normally that means leaving WhatsApp, opening a browser, searching, and wading through results.

You no longer have to. AI is now built into WhatsApp itself, which means the app you already have open all day can answer the question directly.

Where to find it

Open WhatsApp and look at the chat list screen. There is a small colourful icon — that is Meta AI, sitting alongside your conversations rather than in a separate app. Tap it and you get a chat window that behaves exactly like any other chat.

That familiarity is the entire point. Nothing new to learn, no account to create, no interface to work out. If you can send a message, you can use it.

How to ask

Type your question the way you would type a message to a person. Or press the microphone and say it — useful when the question is long or you are moving.

It answers in the language you ask in. Hindi, Gujarati, English — ask in whichever is comfortable and the reply comes back in the same one. For a lot of business owners this removes the quiet friction of having to phrase a question in English to get a decent answer.

A real example

In the video we ran this exact request: "I want today's latest gold and silver prices, in Hindi." Sent like any message. Meta AI processes it, fetches the current prices, and replies in Hindi.

Total time: about as long as messaging a colleague. No app switching, no results to filter, no tab left open afterwards.

Why "where you already are" matters more than capability

This is the part worth understanding, because it explains why a slightly less capable AI inside WhatsApp can be more useful than a better one in its own app.

Every tool has an activation cost — the small friction of remembering it exists, finding it, and switching context. For a question worth thirty seconds of your time, an activation cost of twenty seconds means you simply do not bother. You guess instead, or you ask a colleague, or you let it go.

Removing that cost changes which questions get asked at all. Tools you have to remember to open get used occasionally. Tools inside an app you check fifty times a day become part of how you work.

What it is actually good for

Being inside WhatsApp makes it suited to the quick questions that interrupt a working day, rather than deep research:

  • Current rates and prices you need mid-conversation
  • A quick summary of a news story someone just mentioned
  • Drafting a reply or a short message when you are short on words
  • Explaining something unfamiliar before a meeting
  • Translating a message you have received

For anything sustained — comparing options properly, working through a long document, research you will act on — a dedicated AI app is still the better place. Meta AI is built for the interruption, not the project.

Three limits worth knowing

Verify anything that matters. For live figures like commodity prices, treat the answer as a fast indicator rather than a confirmed source. If a decision or a client commitment depends on the number, check it properly. This is not a criticism of the tool; it is how you should treat any single source for a number that moves.

Think about what you paste in. It is a chat window, which makes it very easy to drop client details or internal figures in without thinking. Anything you would not put in an ordinary WhatsApp message does not belong here either. Assume what you type is processed on Meta's servers and decide accordingly.

It is not connected to your business. Meta AI answers general questions. It does not know your stock levels, your orders or your customers, and it cannot. Getting answers about your own data needs a system connected to that data — a different problem, and the one we work on as part of AI automation.

The habit worth building

The value here is not that the AI is remarkable. It is that it is where you already are.

If you have not tried it yet, the fastest way in is to ask it the next thing you would otherwise have searched for. That is the moment the habit forms — and habits are the only reason any tool ends up mattering.
